In his book Psychology of Intelligence (1973), The construction of reality in the child (1963), Piaget presented his theory of the period of sensorimotor intelligence and subdivided into six stages. There are two main periods in the development Intelligence: before and after the establishment of the symbolic (or semiotic), appearing between 16 and 20 months. The first period is called sensorimotor intelligence. This is the ability to solve problems from activities that involve perception, perception, attitudes, tone and movements without symbolic connotations, ie before the onset of verbal language.
